Hi folks,
Recently, I saw a show on the History Channel about "Stonehenge". This show discussed the pagans who lived in England before the Roman Empire.
Stonehenge contains stones arranged in a circular pattern. "Woodhenge" contains wood arranged in a circular pattern. Researcherrs believe that stonehenge and woodhenge were designed for religious/funeral purposes. Wood symbolized "life", and stone symbolized "death". Funeral processions would start at woodhenge and end at stonehenge.
There is also a very large and very high mound in England that pagans used to coordinate religious ceremonies. Pagans would conduct religious ceremonies at 3 different "circle" sites simultaneously. Someone would stand on top of this mound and coordinate these ceremonies.
This show also examined the burial chambers of dead pagans. Pagans in England felt a "real" connection to their dead. They would often visit their burial chambers for "advice". The dead would "speak" to the living pagans. Pagans would arrange the bones of their dead for "communication" purposes.
